Built for the next generation of marketers

The Marketer Exchange began by bringing working marketers’ voices into the classroom. It has grown into a podcast that serves students and early-career marketers alike.

Different career stages, same goal: better marketing.

Real talk. Practical takeaways.

Meet the host

Zach Thompson, PhD

Marketing educator. Brand and digital strategist. Curious interviewer.

Zach is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Tennessee, where he teaches Digital Marketing and Marketing Strategy. Beyond the classroom, he consults with brands around the world, helping organizations strengthen their strategy, clarify their positioning, and navigate an ever-changing digital landscape.

He created The Marketer Exchange to close the gap between marketing theory and professional practice. Through honest conversations with people doing the work, Zach explores how marketers build careers, make decisions, solve real problems, and turn ideas into meaningful results.

His approach is grounded in curiosity: ask thoughtful questions, challenge easy assumptions, and uncover practical lessons listeners can apply to their own work.
